Celebrities Build Wealth Just Like You And Me

America worships celebrity. As a society, we tend to view celebrities as having better judgment, as being more ethical, more attractive and more worthy of attention that average people.

In my searches for financial information on the internet, I’ve come across some interesting links on the relating to celebrities and their financial lives. It seems that if you take a closer look at the finances of many celebrities, some have done incredibly well, others have failed and filed bankruptcy.

Tracking Your Spending Works

Here is a personal update.

Its early February.  I’ve been tracking my spending for the past 6 weeks and its starting to pay off.

I started after reading Darren Hardy’s The Compound Effect.  If you aren’t familiar with Hardy’s work, he is a huge proponent of the additive power of small changes.  His main idea is that small incremental changes can add up to significant long term effects in behavior you want to alter.  Hardy says its basically like an airplane flight.

Frugal Brag of the Week: $20 Worth of Groceries for Free

If you’re like me, you’re probably looking to stretch your dollar as far as it will go.  Well here is a win I wanted to share with Dinks readers.

The story is I got a gift card for Christmas, but hadn’t used it all. It had about $20 dollars left on it.  I needed groceries and didn’t want to pay full retail.  So, I checked my local Kroger circular online and identified a couple of deals.  Then I walked to my local Kroger store and bought the following:

Saved $323.76 With Just An Hours Work

Sometimes it is a good idea to periodically look at your expenses with a view to trimming the fat.  I had some spare time on Saturday and had at look at my internet, cell phone and subscription entertainment.

Called my cell phone provider, T Mobile, and switched to a plan that gives me the same level of service for $5 less per month.  The call took about twenty minutes.

Need A New Years Resolution?, Try Tracking Your Expenses

New Years is right around the corner.  This is typically a time when people take stock of their lives and determine what they want to do better in the coming year.

If you want a financial resolution that is easy to do, consider tracking your spending.  It is very simple.  All you need to do is write down your expenses every day for 30 days.  I started doing it a couple of weeks ago.  Pretty much, I just got a notebook and have been writing down how much I spend and how much I exercise.  Here are the results from before Christmas of this year.
