James & I spend a lot of our energies on accessing our goals and moving towards them. Thus far we have achieved two major savings goals. The first was to purchase our first home together and the second was to fund our recent wedding. Now that the hemoraging has stopped from the wedding and honeymoon, we begin to look at what next.
One idea that we’ve been discussing for at least a year or more, has been to fund a round the world trip after we are both done with grad school and before we move to the West Coast. This will mean that we can travel without having all the expenses associated with maintaining a home, and do so before the possibility of little ones. While we are both excited to have this dream become a reality, the thought of saving lots of money just to spend it all, edges on us.
Now we are working on a plan that will both make our dream trip become a reality, and won’t feel like we are breaking the bank in the process. We are working on developing a plan to invest our savings in such a way that we will be able to travel on our dividends from investments, as well as rental income from our current investment property and renting out our condo that we currently live in.
We will update you as this plan develops and we move forward to our globetrotting.
Cheers,
Miel
