Do You Tip House Painters?

Do you tip house painters?Hello, Dinks. Tipping is something that most people agree with doing. I tip at restaurants, and I usually tip my Uber drivers. When you tip people, you are showing the workers that you appreciate the job that they are doing. There are other professions that may deserve tips as well. If you have your own house, you may have used the services of a house painter before. If so, would you consider tipping them? I’ve never really thought about tipping a house painter. I currently rent an apartment, so I don’t need a painter right now. House painters have a job that could take a long time to complete.

Different requirements

As I stated earlier, I tip when I go to restaurants and when I use Uber. Many people in the service industry get tips. Hairdressers, barbers and bell hops are a just a few of the others. House painters provide a service that a lot of people just would not do. You don’t have to tip them if you don’t want to. Some painters include tips in their fees. It’s 100% on you if you want to tip them or not.

Reasons that you can tip

People tip for several reasons. If your house painter does a good job, they should get a tip as a show of appreciation. Another reason that you can tip your house painter is if they complete the job ahead of schedule. If you give your house painter a tip, it could motivate him to do a lot more work for you in the future. You can also tip the painter if he does some extra work for you or if he does an exclusive design for some of the rooms.

How much should you tip?

If you’re rich, you can tip the house painter as much money as you want to. If you are like the rest of us, 15 to 20 percent will suffice. That’s the standard amount that people tip service workers. If the painter does a superb job, you can tip them a little more. If the work is below par, you may tip less or even not at all. The decision is yours. If you don’t have any extra money to give to your painter, you can offer them some food and water. I’m sure they will appreciate that.

Problems with tipping

Some companies may not allow their workers to accept tips. They may have a policy that’s against tipping. In situations like that give the house painter a gift card or something. If they truly did a great job, they deserve something extra. There are ways to still take care of them. I had a job a few years ago that didn’t allow us to take tips. I let my customers know, and a couple of them ended up giving me gift cards instead.

For the most part, house painters do a good job. A tip would be a good gesture to show them that you like the job they did.

I guess I never thought of it but I might consider an extra little something for each person if they did a good job and didn’t break anything.

We just remodeled our home, which we bought back in September. We did all of the remodeling ourselves to keep costs low, so we didn’t hire painters. We probably saved $3,000 doing the paint ourselves.

Even if I hired painters, I wouldn’t tip them. That sounds harsh, but painters should have their wages included in the overall fee for the job (I’m saying this as a person who has painters in the family). Of course, if it was noted that a tip was appreciated, I would consider it for a job well-done. But typically painters charge half up-front and then half afterwards so you can dispute the quality.
