In Zimbabwe Everyone Is A Billionaire
The London Telegraph is reporting that inflation in Zimbabwe has hit 231 million percent. This is likely an underestimate. For what its worth, it makes the DOW Jones Industrial Average's recent decline seem like it isn't so bad.

How funny, my colleague wipped out a 100 billion Zimbabwean note today at lunch. There is a phallic watermark, which if you don't look close enough to recognize that it is a very long necked bird, could be mistaken for something else. you literally have to carry suitcases of notes in order to buy anything. The note is only good for 6 months (printed in JUL08 and has expiration of DEC08).
Tim - Yes, it's amazing how much bills can add up!
When I lived in Ghana I had to stuff my purse on the way out to the village, where of course there is no access to ATMs and the like. Once I filled a backpack and booked it to the village. Another time I helped a friend carrying several bags, as in suitcases, full of bills. Felt like we were robbing the bank!
Cheers,
Miel
