Also keep in mind that phone fraud happens in bizarre ways. A friend of mine actually had her identity stolen and used to set up a home phone account. They happened to do this in city she had never lived and while she had proof of living out of the country at the time, but it still took a long time to resolve and took a toll on her credit record.
